How to Play #Baseball (classic demonstration by Goofy in 1942)

Greetings! I’m planning another LiveStream play of the RallyBird Baseball Board Game, this time with an opponent who may not have ever seen baseball game–except for elements absorbed by growing up in the USA, seeing it on the school yard, and, these days, what, kids playing a baseball app on their phones? Hey who let the grumpy old man in here?

So I was looking at quick and entertaining “how to play baseball for beginners” videos on YouTube. This classic came up, so I offer it here in case it amuses you. This is the short version:

if you want to see the full version of this (with horrible low resolution) I found this:

If you know of a fun, short video that teaches basic baseball for beginners, please let me know.

Health to all!

StayHome LiveStream RallyBird Baseball games continue, reaching number 5. Here Drew and I meet for a second time in what promises to be a series. As you can see in the thumbnail picture, events occurred which inspired me to throw my hat.

Big thanks to Drew for playing! See you for game 3 of our series soon….

Pete vs Heather. Game number 4 in the #StayHome series. Watch as Heather deliberates between playing it safe and taking big risks! Inspired by her struggle with risk taking, I tried to steal third base in the 9th Inning. Nuts! Fun!

Heather likes baseball but is not as familiar with it as some of my other livestream opponents. But you can see in the video how she handles the challenge and frames her decisions. I tried to make her nervous. The game went to extra innings, but still clocked under an hour. Thanks so much Heather for playing!

Can my offense, formed around the nicknames of each player in my lineup, defeat Dei Vida, who swings for the fences?

This video includes some live candid events, priceless moments such as when DV needs to leave to close her garage door, or when her camera falls over. There’s one internet hiccup where we need to reconnect. And yet still the game moved quickly to conclusion under an hour. You can easily fast forward past the “candid moments” if you want. Big thanks to DV for playing me on camera! Let’s do it again.

I’m also looking for new opponents to play on camera! Bring it!

Update: I learned that YouTube allows me to edit an uploaded livestream. I gave it a little trimming!

Update2: I continue to learn the peculiarities of YouTube’s editing feature. Unlike normal editing, which allows many passes, this seems to require the editing to be done in one effort. Odd but okay! I’m grateful for the service.

My excellent opponent Jeremy and I faced off this afternoon for a quick paced 50-minute game! It helps to have consistent Internet. You don’t want to miss Jeremy singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game!”

What fun– although I find the multi-tasking of videoing the game a distraction, and remain a “think about one thing at a time” guy, I feel so much appreciation for the tools that support it. StreamYard works great, and of course YouTube makes it possible.

I was able to improve my camera angle over StayHome game #1 against Drew. Now you can see most of my head most of the time. You don’t want to miss that! I’m looking forward to more games against Jeremy and Drew–and I’m asking others as well. Some are shy, but it’s only going to be recorded for everyone forever and ever. So we’ll see!

So far all my live video opponents are fanatical Cubs fans. This is not a requirement. If you own a copy and want to play against me this way, please reach out to me.

Play Ball!
